About

I'm Tyson Lott, a biblical counselor and pastor in Atlanta, Georgia.

For years I've walked with men and couples through some of the hardest chapters of their lives — anxious seasons that refuse to lift, engagements weighed down with unspoken fears, and the quiet, shame-filled struggle with pornography that so many Christian men carry alone.

My conviction is simple: the gospel speaks to every corner of the human heart. Counseling isn't about behavior management or quick-fix techniques — it's about meeting Christ in the places you feel most stuck, and letting His Word do the deep, patient work of renewal.

Whether you live in Atlanta or anywhere with an internet connection, I'd be glad to hear your story.

What I Help With

Three areas where I focus my counseling.

I've chosen to concentrate on these because I've seen how deeply they affect men, marriages, and the life of the local church — and how Scripture speaks with remarkable specificity to each.

Anxiety & Worry

You've been told to "just trust God" — but the fear keeps coming back. Together we'll listen closely to what your heart is saying, trace anxiety's roots, and rebuild a life that rests in God's sovereign care without ignoring the real pressures you face.

Premarital Counseling

A structured 6–8 session arc designed to prepare you for the covenant of marriage — communication, conflict, finances, intimacy, family of origin, and a shared vision for a gospel-shaped home. More than a formality; a real foundation.

Pornography Addiction (for Men)

You've tried the filters, the accountability apps, the white-knuckle willpower. This is not another behavior-modification program. It's heart-level counseling — compassionate, confidential, and aimed at the worship beneath the sin — because freedom in Christ is real and it is for you.

Men only · Discretion assured
My Approach

Counseling that takes the heart — and Scripture — seriously.

My counseling aims to be deeply pastoral, careful to listen to your whole life — thoughts, desires, emotions, body, and circumstances — and committed to the sufficiency of Scripture for the work God does in us.

It's not a program or a script. It's a relationship where I walk with you, week after week, bringing the gospel to light in the specific circumstances of your life.

1

Listen carefully

Your story matters. Before anything else, I want to understand the particulars of what you're walking through.

2

Read Scripture together

The Bible isn't a rulebook pulled out at the end — it's the living Word that meets your specific situation.

3

Engage the heart

Behaviors grow out of beliefs, desires, and loves. Lasting change happens there, not at the surface.

4

Practice, slowly

Real change takes root over time. I'll give you small, sustainable next steps — and walk them with you.

Common Questions

Before we meet.

What's the difference between biblical counseling and Christian therapy?

Both come from a heart to serve Christians, but the foundations differ. Licensed Christian therapy is rooted in the discipline of psychology, with Christian faith as an added dimension. Biblical counseling starts from the conviction that Scripture is sufficient and authoritative for addressing the deepest questions of the human heart — and builds its work out from there. I'm a biblical counselor, working in the CCEF tradition.

Are you a licensed therapist?

No. Biblical counseling is a form of pastoral soul care and is not equivalent to licensed mental-health treatment. This means I cannot diagnose mental illness, prescribe medication, or bill insurance. If you are in crisis or believe you may need psychiatric or clinical care, please reach out to a licensed professional — and I'm glad to help you find one.

How long will I be in counseling?

It varies. Premarital counseling is typically 6–8 sessions. Counseling for anxiety or pornography addiction often runs 3–6 months, with sessions tapering toward the end. We'll check in regularly on how things are going and adjust as needed. There's no pressure to commit up front to a specific length.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes, with rare exceptions. What you share stays between us. The exceptions — which I'll explain fully before our first session — involve risk of harm to yourself or others, abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult, and situations where the care of elders in your local church is warranted (this is discussed and agreed upon ahead of time, never done behind your back).

Do you meet online, in person, or both?

Both. Most of my counseling is online by video and works very well that way. If you're in the Atlanta metro area and prefer in-person meetings, that's available too — we'll sort out the details during your free consultation.

Do you counsel non-Christians?

Yes. I'm upfront that my counseling is explicitly grounded in Scripture and the person of Christ — so if that framework doesn't resonate with where you are, biblical counseling probably isn't the right fit. But if you're curious, searching, or simply open, you're welcome. I'll never pretend to be neutral, but I also won't pressure you.

Why do you counsel men specifically for pornography?

I've chosen to invest deeply in understanding how this particular struggle plays out in the life of a man — his marriage, his work, his walk with God — so I can serve well in that lane. For women dealing with these issues, I'm glad to refer you to trusted counselors who specialize in it.
